Abstract

This research implemented Design Thinking in the UI/UX design of the mobile-based hotel reservation application. The stages in design thinking are carried out sequentially to direct the Design of UI/UX designs that follow user expectations, especially hotel consumers. At the empathize stage, user observation and interviews collect as much information as possible. The information obtained is then categorized into an empathy map. Next, in the Define stage, researchers determine user personas, categorize user problems, and create a list of How Might We. At the Ideate stage, as many ideas as possible are generated, including high, medium, and low priority ideas. There are several processes in the Prototype stage, starting from creating a user flow based on user tasks, making a Style Guide, and creating a Wireframe. The last stage is the Test, which is carried out to evaluate the results of user acceptance of the prototype that has been produced. Testing by providing questions related to several indicators for Usability Testing. The test results obtained a learnability score of 85.4%, efficiency 87.2%, memorability 86.3%, errors 82.7%, and satisfaction 91.8%. The results show that the final user satisfaction score was 86.7%. This study concluded that Design Thinking can be helpful when applied to UI/UX design development because it can understand user needs, so the resulting design is expected to produce a good user experience.
